Yalari EOFY Appeal

Small Steps,
Big Change.

Donate today,
change tomorrow

This year, as we celebrate 20 years of Yalari, we’re reminded of the small steps that brought us here — 839 scholarships awarded, students rising to excel at their respective boarding schools, alumni growing into empowered leaders.

Small steps, big change speaks to what a scholarship makes possible — not just for the young Indigenous child from a regional or remote town, but also for the families, communities and supporters who walk alongside them.

Every contribution, no matter the size, will help shape the future for Indigenous Australians.

Will you walk with us?

99% of Yalari scholars surveyed in our Social Impact Study transitioned to university, further education or employment post graduation.

69% of our students who start Year 7, complete Year 12, which is above the national average of 56% for all other Indigenous students regardless of where they live.

Alumni Todd's story

Growing up on a farm in the outback mining town of Lightning Ridge, Todd Ellis received a Yalari scholarship to Toowoomba Grammar School in 2008 graduating in 2013.

“If I’d stayed in Lightning Ridge, I probably would’ve left school in Year 10 to work on the farm full-time… Lightning Ridge only had a small school and, once in high school, had limited opportunity in and out of school.”

Today, Todd is a Senior Project Officer with the NSW Environment Protection Authority. Based in Dubbo with his wife and two daughters, he also serves with Fire and Rescue NSW – working alongside Aboriginal communities to care for Country.
