At Yalari, we know that the journey to a great education often starts with a simple search. For a family in a remote community, finding the right information at the right time can be the first step toward a student defining their own future.
But for many, digital barriers—slow internet, hard-to-navigate websites, or mobile-unfriendly pages—can make that first step harder than it needs to be.
That’s why we are incredibly grateful to Queensland Gives for their support. Through a recent $29,000 General Fund Capacity Building Grant, Yalari is embarking on a project to make our digital home as accessible more welcoming.
What does this mean for our community?
Instead of focusing on the technical “back-end,” this project is about equity. Whether a family is searching for scholarship details from a cattle station in the Gulf or a suburb in Mackay, their experience should be seamless.
This funding allows us to:
- Remove barriers: Ensuring our website works reliably on low-bandwidth connections in remote areas.
- Prioritise accessibility: Making sure our resources are easy to find and use for everyone, including alumni and new families.
- Strengthen connection: Updating our digital space to better reflect the stories and aspirations of the students we walk alongside.
MJ Roach, our Marketing Manager, says:
“Our work is about being an enabler of community aspiration. This support from Queensland Gives ensures that when a family looks for a way to support their child’s education, we are easy to reach. It’s about making sure our digital presence reflects the respect we have for the families we work with.”
We’ve been partnering with communities for nearly 20 years, and as we look to the future, staying connected in a digital world is vital. This investment from Queensland Gives isn’t just an update to a website; it’s an investment in the pathways our students choose for themselves.
A huge thank you to the team at Queensland Gives for walking with us on this journey toward digital equity.
