Gift in Will

Their future is your legacy

We all want to leave the world a little better than we found it.

By leaving a gift in your will to Yalari, you help us provide Indigenous children from regional and remote communities the chance to access a quality education.

For over 20 years, Yalari has partnered with leading schools across Australia to provide over 800 scholarships, giving students the confidence, skills, and support to become leaders in their communities. Alumni now serve on Yalari’s board, work as health professionals and educators, and mentor the next generation.

Your legacy can continue that story.

What Is a Gift in Will

A gift in will (also known as a bequest or legacy gift) is a donation you include in your will for a charity or cause that matters to you. It’s a simple way to keep supporting what you believe in, even after your lifetime.

Many people choose to leave a gift in their will because it allows them to make a lasting contribution without affecting their financial security today. These gifts can take different forms, like a set amount of money, a percentage of your estate, or what’s left after other gifts are distributed.

Gifts in wills help charities plan for the future and continue their work for generations to come.

For Yalari, a gift in will help fund scholarships, pathways programs, and the ongoing support students need to thrive. Without this kind of sustained, forward-looking generosity, planning for the next generation of students becomes harder. Your gift helps Yalari commit to students years in advance for the long term.

Why Leave a Gift in Your Will to Yalari

When you leave a gift in your will to Yalari, you create opportunities that reach far beyond the classroom.

Every Yalari scholarship is more than financial support. It’s access to quality education, mentorship, and a community that stays connected long after graduation. A second generation of Yalari students is now in the program, proving the impact one scholarship carries forward through families and communities.

Without ongoing support from people like you, students in regional and remote communities risk missing out on these opportunities entirely. Your gift ensures the door stays open.

By including Yalari in your will, you become part of a legacy that’s already 20 years in the making.

Ways You Can Leave a Gift

There are several ways to include a gift in your will to Yalari. Each offers a meaningful way to support Indigenous education while fitting your personal circumstances.

Once all specific gifts are distributed to your loved ones, the remainder (or a proportion) of your estate goes to the Yalari Foundation. This gives you peace of mind regardless of the final estate size.

A fixed percentage of your total estate. Because estate values change over time, this ensures the proportion you intended for Yalari stays the same, no matter what your estate is worth when the time comes.

A specific gift can be a sum of money, property, shares, or other assets you’d like to pass on to Yalari. The more clearly it’s described in your will, the easier it is for your loved ones to honour your wishes.

A named scholarship that continues in perpetuity. A minimum gift of $500,000 establishes a named student scholarship; $250,000 establishes a named pathways scholarship for tertiary studies. This is the most direct way to ensure your name is connected to a student’s future, every single year.

Yalari Gift in Wills in Action

Behind every Yalari scholarship is a supporter who believed in giving back, and a student who took that opportunity and made it their own.

These stories show the lasting impact of leaving a gift in your will: a shared legacy built on opportunity, education, and connection for generations to come.

Paul & Judy’s Lasting Legacy

Driven by their belief that education creates opportunity, Paul and Judy Williams founded the Woomera Education Scholarship Trust to give Indigenous students a chance to thrive. Their partnership with Yalari helped transform unused scholarship places into real opportunities for students from regional communities, proving that one connection can open doors for generations.

Marnie’s Journey of Giving Back

When Marnie Jones received her Yalari scholarship, she saw it as a chance to dream beyond her small hometown in Lightning Ridge. That opportunity led her to become a paediatric occupational therapist, a PhD candidate, and a mentor for the next generation. One scholarship. A lifetime of giving back.

Julia’s Path to Global Leadership

A Yalari scholarship set Julia Malamoo on a path that took her from St Hilda’s School to representing Australia on the world stage. Now a First Secretary at the Australian Embassy in Thailand, Julia credits her Yalari education with giving her the confidence and cultural grounding to pursue her dreams and lead with purpose.
