2007 Brisbane Fundraising Dinner
23 October 2007 heralded yet another successful fundraising dinner in the Yalari calendar, although this time it was the inaugural Brisbane Dinner event. Over 450 guests enjoyed the indigenous-themed evening which showcased entertainment by comedian, Sean Choolburra; the dance expressions of Jeanette Fabila and her talented colleagues from the Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts; lively dialogue by Pastor Billy Williams and the fascinating main address by Dr Mark Wenitong.
Together with the generous support of our Platinum sponsor, Springfield Land Corporation; the Gold sponsorships by Macarthur Coal, NORTHBRIDGE and Wilson HTM; and the many generous donations which made for lively bids in the Silent and Live Auction (for which the skills of Mr Jim Watson, the auctioneer were greatly appreciated!), this first Brisbane Fundraising Dinner raised over $250,000. Of course, the volunteers on the Dinner committee, the youth who assisted on the night and the assistance of companies such as The Southbank Corporation, Snap Printing Sumner Park, Barambah Wines and Mars Theming Design were invaluable to the success of the evening.
As you are aware, every dollar raised for Yalari from these Dinner events goes directly to the Rosemary Bishop Scholarship Program.
Not only have we been thrilled with the publicity surrounding this event, we have been humbled by this achievement in our first foray into Brisbane and look forward to bringing you another Brisbane dinner in 2008 – watch this space!
