Message from Her Excellency Ms Quentin Bryce, AC

Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia

Yalari is the fulfilment and promise of one man’s dream founded on his own experience of life. In just over five years Waverley Stanley and his team of staff, directors, advisers, donors and partner schools have been a vital force in transforming the lives and futures of 180 young and talented Indigenous Australians

Upon the good brought to a single life, thousands more will thrive. To educate is to build and secure self respect and responsibility, opportunity and choice, an asset whose value will be enriched over a lifetime.

Yalari shows us the power of one and the collective strength of whole communities - young people and their families, elders, teachers, school principals, private and corporate philanthropists - in creating pathways from disadvantage to reconciliation and empowerment.

I am inspired by Yalari’s fresh face of leadership, a fine example for all Australians. As your Patron, I give you my greatest support and encouragement in your contribution to the lives of Indigenous Australians and to a strong and capable Australia.
